Title - Benralizumab for severe asthma
Description - Benralizumab is a medicine containing a type of protein that recognises and attaches to a specific target substance in the body. The target of Benralizumab is a protein called interleukin-5 receptor, which is found particularly on a type of white blood cell called an eosinophil. You may also see it referred to as Fasenra, which is the brand name.Title - Breathlessness
Description - Getting out of breath is a normal process. It can be a natural response when your body needs more oxygen or when you do something that requires physical effort. Evidence suggests that how breathless you feel does not always match up with how well you are getting air into your lungs. This is because it is not just lung function that affects how out of breath you feel.Title - COPD Telehealth
Description - Telehealth is a new service in partnership with Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and Docobo, offering remote monitoring to patients with long term conditions, delivered by Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals for patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in the St Helens locality. You may be referred by the COPD service for telehealth monitoring if your COPD Nurse Specialist feels you would benefit from monitoring your own health at home.Title - Flexible Bronchoscopy
Description - You may have symptoms that could indicate a lung disease; or a chest X-ray has shown that you would benefit from further Investigation. Although an X-ray of your chest and other tests are helpful, the doctor in charge of your case believes it would be wise to have a direct look at the lining of the windpipe (trachea) and the inside of the lungs (bronchi). The aim is to see if there is a more apparent cause for your symptoms.Title - Fractional exhaled Nitric Oxide (FeNO)
Description - A FeNO test is a breath test that measures the levels of nitric oxide in your breath. This is a safe and easy test to do. The results can be used alongside your symptoms and clinical examination, to help make a diagnosis. A high reading can be a sign that you have inflammation in your airways. It can also help to give an idea, of how well controlled someone’s asthma is.Title - Indwelling pleural catheter (IPC)
Description - The IPC is a soft thin tube that is inserted through a small incision made in the skin and sits in the lining of the lung also known as the pleura. The opposite end of the tube stays on the outside of your chest, there is a one way valve on this side that prevents any fluid leaking out and air entering the tube into the chest.Title - Ipratropium Bromide Nebuliser Solution
Description - Ipratropium belongs to a group of medicines called anticholinergics, which act as bronchodilators, which help to open up the air passages in your lungs so that you can breathe more easily. Ipratropium nebuliser solution may help make breathing easier in patients, who have long standing breathing difficulties.
