Consultant Outcomes Publication (COP)

The NHS is committed to making sure that there is more information available on how services and professionals are performing. This will have a two-fold effect in that it will improve the quality of care and also help patients to be able to make informed choices about their treatment. 

To support this aim, the Consultant Outcomes Publication (COP) has been introduced to publish quality measures at the level of individual consultant doctor using National Clinical Audit and administrative data.  Consultant Outcomes Publication began with 10 National Clinical Audits in 2013 and the information published is available on the NHS Choices website.

In 2014, the original 10 areas will begin to expand the procedures and quality measures and 3 additional areas will also be added to the publication. The full list (including links to the relevant websites) of these can be found below:​

Patients are eligible for free NHS treatment at St Helens and Knowsley Teaching hospitals NHS Trust if they are: Ordinarily resident in the
UK or: Overseas visitors, but entitled to free NHS services under the National Health Service (Charges to Overseas Visitors) Regulations
