Armed Forces Covenant

Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has been a long supporter of the Armed Forces Community and in 2017 signed the Armed Forces Covenant.

In 2018 we hosted our first ever NHS Career Insight Day for the Service Leavers which was a great opportunity to work in collaboration with other military organisations and connect with the local Armed Forces Community.

The Trust also has a dedicated policy to support the work of its Reserves, which includes paid leave to attend training.

Employer Recognition Scheme

We are very proud of the work that we do with Reservists, Service leavers, Veterans, and their families in securing employment within the NHS and in fostering a welcoming environment. In 2019 we were awarded the gold category of the MOD’s Employer Recognition Scheme which is testament to the support we offer the Armed Forces community wherever possible.

Step into Health

We work in partnership with the Step into Health programme, giving servicemen and women the opportunity to experience working in the NHS.

We recognise the transferable skills and cultural values that the Armed Forces personnel develop, and how they are compatible with those required within NHS roles.
