- Parents in Mind
Service offer:
Parents in Mind are a ‘parent-to-parent’ support.
This service provides free peer support for women and birthing people who are experiencing low mood, anxiety, isolation and poor mental health during pregnancy and/or within the two years after birth.
It is delivered by parents and volunteers who have closely supported or themselves experienced poor mental or emotional health during pregnancy and/or early parenthood, who are now well, and can offer time to support someone else currently experiencing similar problems. No formal previous diagnosis is required – by volunteer or service user.
We are not clinicians, health advisors or therapist – we simple offer parents a safe, judgment-free & filter free space to offload the full feelings of parenthood.
Face-to-face groups and private one-to-ones can be accessed within the community and/or virtually to suit and enable all parents access to PIM support.
Contact and access:
The service tries to engage with parents wanting support within the week, with support able to begin the following week if they choose.

- Parents in Mind: Dads & Partners service in St Helens
Service offer:
Group support, 1-1, walk and talks, creative sessions and group challenges.
Within St Helens we now offer a range of peer support options and a reflective parenting programme to any active care giver to a pregnant person or a baby under 2 – that may be dad, partner, grandparent or anyone actively involved in raise a little one.
The emotional wellbeing of dads is often overlooked when it comes to providing support and care during the perinatal period. Whilst we can now recognise more widely that this time can prove challenging for mums’ mental health, becoming a father can also be a particularly challenging and vulnerable time too. Fathers may go on to develop perinatal mental health issues, either as a result of their partner's illness or independently.
Our team leader Pete, has created a series of podcasts exploring some of the challenges that dads can face when becoming a parent - NCT’s 'Being Dad' podcasts are available to all to be shared, they focus on helping connect dads with conversations from; dealing with changes in relationships, to the pressures and challenges dads face. These podcasts are honest reflections from dads who have been there. Sharing their own experiences, these dads talk openly about how they felt in the early days of becoming a parent.
