Formerly St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

Video Consultations (Telehealth)

The pressures of modern living can make it difficult for patients to attend appointments through travel difficulties, work or childcare commitments or condition and health issues. Additionally, there is a cost associated with missed appointments to the Trust, including the inefficient use of Trust resources when patients do not attend.

The Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Trust deployment of video consultations (TeleHealth) for outpatient appointments has improved patients’ experience and choice, helps patients get the right care, promptly, in the right place. Telehealth gives patients options to choose how their care is delivered, catering for individual patient’s needs and requirements, and creating more effective relationships with our patients. By harnessing this technology to reshape how we care for our patients, we are responding to the changing needs of patients and increasing the level of care we are able to provide.

Telehealth allows clinician and patient to see each other in real time, using every day devices such as laptops, tablets or smart phones that most people own or can access.
