What is Surgery Hero?

Surgery Hero is a new health coaching service designed specifically for people having surgery.

Surgery Hero's health coaching will help you to get in the best physical and mental shape for your upcoming operation via in-person and virtual sessions. 

How does it work?

When you sign up to Surgery Hero, you'll be contacted by your own personal health coach who will create a wellness program specific to you and your needs. Your coach will help you set and work towards short term goals step by step.

What kind of results can I expect?

Patients who take part in surgical preparation programs like Surgery Hero have been shown to have a lower risk of complications and can return to normal activities sooner. We hope you will find the program enjoyable and feel the benefits in your health and fitness.

Do I have to pay to use Surgery Hero?

No. Surgery Hero is part of the service you are receiving from the hospital. You will never be asked to pay to use Surgery Hero.

Am I eligible?

As part of the sign-up process, we’ll ask you a few questions to make sure our program is the right fit for you. But as a general rule, if you’ve been referred by your hospital team it’s likely you’re eligible.

How do I sign up?

You can sign up to Surgery Hero using an Apple or Android smartphone.

You will receive a text message from Surgery Hero with a link to download and install the app. Once the app is installed, there’s a brief sign-up process which takes no more than 5 minutes to complete.
