Our Services A - Z - Lilac Centre
About the service
The Lilac Centre is a haematology and oncology day unit based at St Helens Hospital. The centre operates from Monday to Friday from 8.00am until 5.00pm. We are closed on some bank holidays over the Christmas and Easter period.
The Lilac Centre is predominantly a Chemotherapy / Immunotherapy Day Unit, delivering various Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (SACT). We also provide supportive treatments/care for patients that require other supportive therapies.
We achieved the Macmillan Cancer Support Quality Environment Mark Award in 2010, 2014, 2017 and 2023 the first chemotherapy unit nationally to receive this prestigious award aiming to improve the wellbeing of people living with cancer.
The Lilac Centre offers holistic therapies to support patients and carers; this includes counselling support and complimentary therapies such as reiki, aromatherapy, reflexology and hot stone therapy.
The Lilac Centre and Ward 2A at Whiston Hospital provide a 24-hour advice line for patients. We have a policy which encourages patients to phone if they are experiencing problems related to their treatment:
