About the service

The General Surgery Department is a very busy and dynamic unit comprising of three wards, incorporating Surgical Assessment Unit 4B (SAU). 

Ward 4A is a 32 bedded ward providing a Urology and General Surgey service.

Ward 4B is a 14 bedded Surgical / GP Assessment Ward providing care for General Surgery and Urology admissions, and a 16 bedded Elective Surgery Ward, providing General Surgery, Urology, Breast and ENT service.

Ward 4C is a 33 bedded ward providing a Colorectal and General Surgery service.

This team of dedicated staff work closely with other departments and members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure that patients receive high standards of quality care that is effective, safe and appropriate to their individual needs and surgical pathway.
