About the service
Seddon Suite Rehabilitation Unit, offers a dedication rehabilitation service for Merseyside residents.
It is part of the Cheshire and Merseyside Rehabilitation Network providing specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for adults following traumatic injury or serious illness.
The rehabilitation unit has 20 beds, with facilities for a range of therapeutic treatments. The unit provides in-patient and out-patient services. Our team of professionals work closely with patients and families to provide active rehabilitation, to achieve the best possible level of independence and quality of life.
- What to Expect?
Your rehabilitation team will design a rehabilitation programme following your assessment.
Regular review meetings will be held with you and your rehabilitation team to discuss your progress and discharge planning for home.
We welcome and value the input of your family and friends whilst planning and delivering your care.
You will have a named Rehabilitation Co-ordinator who will support you during your admission, help to plan your meetings and ensure your rehabilitation care runs smoothly.
The medical team will see you on weekly on the ward round and are available if you have any queries in between times.
- Daily Routine
Your daily routine will be planned around your needs and rehabilitation. Therapy sessions will be tailored to your needs. Sessions may be scheduled between 09:00am and 4:00pm, up to seven days per week. Where feasible, you will receive six days of Physiotherapy and six days of Occupational Therapy including at weekends. The Speech and Language Therapist and Dietitian will see you between Monday and Friday.
Meals are served in the dining room where possible.
If you need assistance with personal care tasks, nursing staff will provide this.
Nurses provide medication on drug rounds, please do not take any medication that you are not prescribed and talk to your doctor if you have any concerns.

The unit is supported by a team of administrative, domestic and catering staff.
- Location and Contact Details
Seddon Suite is located on the ground floor of Elyn Lodge which is a separate building to the left of the main entrance to the hospital.
Both in-patient and out-patient services are delivered within this building.
The Consultant led clinic runs on a Thursday morning. The therapy led clinic runs across the week, except for weekends and Bank holidays.
Our visiting times are:
Weekdays 1:30pm to 4:00pm and 6:30pm to 8:00pm.
Saturday and Sunday 1:00pm to 8:00pm.
If you would like your visitors to come outside of these hours please speak to the unit manager or nurse in charge. A maximum of 2 visitors are allowed at a time.
We ask that visitors avoid protected meal times unless they have arranged to assist you with your nutritional needs. Please speak to the unit manager for further information.
To enter the unit visitors should ring the bell and a member of staff will let them in. Please be patient as sometimes the staff are busy in the unit.

Facilities
Accommodation consists of 12 single side rooms and 8 beds within single sex bays. Side rooms are used for those with a clinical need for a room of their own. The unit also has:
- Two therapy gyms
- Garden with planting and seating areas
- Independent living unit including a bedroom, bathroom and kitchen
- Television in each side room and bays
- Craft area
- Lounge and television area
- CD player / books / games
- Wifi
- Breakfast bar and drinks station
- Ward based leisure activities such as film night, quizzes and themed meals, coffee mornings, craft and card making.
