Formerly St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

Our Services A - Z - Phlebotomy Services

About the service

The Trust provides a number of Phlebotomy Services within Whiston and St Helens hospitals and also in the community across Halton, Knowsley and St Helens.

Our phlebotomy service takes blood samples from patients aged 16 and over who have been referred to the service by their healthcare professional for a blood test.

The results from blood tests can be used to help:

  • Make a diagnosis of illness or infection (or rule something out)
  • Monitor treatment
  • Monitor the health of someone with a long-term health condition.

GPs and other healthcare professionals refer patients to the service when they need a blood test to be taken.

Our Phlebotomy clinics now use an online booking system for patients over the age of 16. To book an appointment, for a blood test, at one of our clinics please follow this link.

If you need to book an appointment for a child under the age of 16, please telephone 0151 430 1702.

Please Note - Blood forms must be brought to the appointment
