About the service
The Tissue Viability service is a nurse led service providing specialist advice and care to patients with or at risk of developing wounds/pressure ulcers.
The service also provides education for patients, carers, and staff around pressure ulcers and wounds.
The service is to aid and support all healthcare professionals who are involved in the management of: complex wounds, chronic and non-healing wounds.
Provide equipment to patients with wound care needs.
The service runs Monday- Friday 9-5pm excluding Bank Holidays .The team provides specialist Tissue Viability knowledge and support to Whiston and St.Helens Hospital, and Newton Hospital.
The team can be contacted on: 0151 4301928. Bleep 7196. The answerphone is checked regularly throughout the day.

Lead Tissue Viability Nurse/Equipment pool Manager: Debbie Gleeson. Debbie has been in post as lead TVN since 2000.
Debbie’s working hours are: Monday-Friday 9-5pm

Tissue Viability Nurse Advisor: Lesley Easthope. Lesley has an honorary contract with the Trust and works 2 days for us.

Tissue Viability Nurse Facilitator/Trainer: Sarah Moran: Sarah is the administrator for the TVN service. She is also responsible for educating trust staff in use of pressure relieving/reducing equipment.

The Tissue Viability team aim to respond to referrals within 48-72 hours depending on need. It is vital that referrals are completed fully as they are triaged depending on patient need. Incomplete referrals will be returned to sender to be completed.
