Oral and Maxillofacial surgery in Merseyside and Cheshire is run on a hub and spoke model, subspecialist in and outpatient surgical activity occurring at Aintree and Alder Hey for adults and children respectively.
At St Helens Hospital we offer Outpatient clinics in the generality of Oral and Maxillofacial for patients of Knowsley and St Helens. We invite referrals for the entire remit of oral and maxillofacial surgery including but not limited to dento-alveolar surgery, oral medicine, facial deformity, head and neck oncology including suspected oral cancers salivary gland pathology and cutaneous pathology of the head and neck and temporomandibular pathology. Cleft Lip and palate and Craniofacial pathology is managed at Alder Hey and acute maxillofacial trauma managed at Aintree hospital.

I hold clinics on Monday pm and Wednesday am, but our team of specialty dentists hold daily clinics Monday to Friday
Overview/Background:
I studied dentistry at Newcastle upon Tyne and Medicine at Glasgow University, having undergone basic surgical training in the West of Scotland and thereafter completed my higher surgical training in oral and maxillofacial surgery in the Mersey Deanery. I was appointed consultant at Countess of Chester Hospital in 2005 and at Aintree hospital in 2006 at the regional maxillofacial surgery unit.
My special interests within oral and maxillofacial surgery include temporomandibular joint surgery, I am one of a small number of surgeons in the UK performing total prosthetic temporomandibular joint surgery in addition to arthroscopic and open TMJ surgery. I also perform orthognathic surgery working with the orthodontic departments at Warrington and Liverpool Dental Hospitals including virtual surgical planning.
I am an examiner of Intercollegiate Speciality Fellowship Exam in Oral and maxillofacial Surgery for the Royal Colleges, a peer reviewer for the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Journal of Orthodontics, I am an honorary clinical lecturer at Liverpool University teaching both under and post graduates.
