• Established Rapid Access Cataract Service at St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust
• Established the Cornea service at Aintree Hospitals, Liverpool
• One of the first surgeon in UK to perform Implantable Contact Lens and Intacs in UK.
• First surgeon in Europe to perform Reading Implant surgery for correction of Presbyopia.
• Presently developing and promoting new Accommodating Implants for cataract and Refractive surgery
• Former Clinical Director for Research and Development of Lenstec Intraocular lenses.
• Former Member of the European Refractive Committee for Bausch and Lomb, a major manufacturer of cataract and refractive lasers and other products.
• Author of over 20 published research papers in peer reviewed journals.
• Reviewer for the ‘Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery’, ‘Ophthalmology’ and ‘Cornea’ journals.
• Former Member of Editorial Advisory Board for ‘Cataract and Refractive Surgery Today’.
• Author of several chapters on Cataract and Excimer laser surgery in 6 different textbooks.
• Former Council member of UK and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (UKISCRS)
• Member of all major European and American Intraocular Implant and Refractive societies such as American academy, ESCRS, ASCRS and IIIC.
• Invited speaker, faculty member and chairman at all major international cataract and refractive conferences worldwide on a routine basis.
