Overview/Background:

I am a Senior NHS consultant cardiologist (St. Helens & Knowsley NHS Teaching Hospitals) and I am the clinical lead for heart failure services in the community. I am also the lead for Coronary CT Angiography service and Nuclear Cardiology service.  I am honorary Senior Lecturer at University of Leeds.

I obtained my MBBS (honours) degree from Meerut University in India. Thereafter I completed my postgraduate education with successful completion of MD (Medicine) to practice as a physician and thereafter DM (Cardiology) followed by FRCP (Royal College of Physicians, London.

I came to the United Kingdom in 1996 and gained further extensive experience in angiography, pacemaker, angioplasties and complex bi-ventricular pacemakers. I have worked in cardiology for last 30 years and as a consultant cardiologist in UK since 2005. I have a wide experience of treating general cardiological conditions such as angina, heart failure, palpitations and syncope (fainting). I have a special interest in heart failure, hypertension and atrial fibrillation. I have vast experience with cardiac risk assessment prior to non-cardiac surgery. I have championed primary prevention advice and regularly run ‘heart wise’ clinics.

I have published extensively in Cardiology and am co-author of a book on Cardiology. I have more than 70 other original publications in peer reviewed journals and have also written 2 chapters in another book on Cardiology.

I am an active member of British Society of Echocardiography, British Society of Heart Failure, British Cardiovascular Society and British Medical Association. I am Chairperson of British International Doctors Association Southport & Ormskirk Division. I am Director of British Association of Cardiologists of Indian Origin.
