Marshalls Cross Medical Centre receives improved CQC rating

Marshalls Cross Medical Centre has been rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission after a recent inspection.

Based in St Helens Hospital, management of the GP practice was taken over by St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in March 2018, when the centre was rated as ‘requires improvement’. The latest inspection in October 2022 shows improvements across all key areas in that time.

Of the 5 key areas inspected: safe, effective, caring, responsive, well-led, results rate the Medical Centre ‘Good’ in all areas.

The report highlighted many positive aspects across all areas, including:

  • The practice has clear systems, practices and processes to keep people safe
  • Staff worked together and with other organisations to deliver effective care and treatment
  • Staff treated patients with kindness, respect and compassion
  • People were able to access care and treatment in a timely way
  • The practice is well organised and delivers services to meet patients’ needs
  • Staff were consistent and proactive in helping patients live healthier lives
  • The practice respected patients’ privacy and dignity
  • Feedback from patients was mostly positive about the way staff treated people
  • There was compassionate, inclusive and effective leadership

Responding to the inspection report published today, Ann Marr OBE, Chief Executive, said:

“We are delighted that our primary care service at Marshalls Cross Medical Centre has been recognised as ‘Good’ by the CQC. To improve across all inspected areas has taken a lot of hard work by our staff and I am proud that the report highlights the high standards of care, quality leadership and their commitment to providing the best patient experience possible.

Our staff have worked tirelessly to provide the highest standards of compassionate care to our patients and this inspection report is a positive reflection of that. I’d like to say a personal thank you to them all.”
