National No Smoking Day | Today is the Day to Stop Smoking

Today is National No Smoking Day, and at STHK we’d like to use the advice and support available out there to encourage and help our patients and staff who smoke to quit for good.

Don’t give up on giving up.

Every time you try, you’re a step closer to success. Every quit attempt is an opportunity to learn.

Every successful quit begins with a serious quit attempt.

Make your next quit attempt this No Smoking Day. Many smokers do not quit on their first attempt and need several tries before they succeed.

The sooner you stop the greater the health gains

No matter how long you’ve smoked for, or when you decide to stop, your health will benefit. Quitting can add as much as a decade to life expectancy.

STHK Respiratory Consultant, Dr Louise Brockbank says:

“For the majority of people who smoke, the best thing that they can do for their health is to stop smoking.

Even after decades of smoking I have seen patients have huge benefits in terms of their health, finances, and wellbeing”
