Overview/Background:

I graduated from Alexandria Medical School in Egypt then moved to the UK for further surgical training. I completed Higher Ophthalmic Surgical training in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 2017 then successfully completed two vitreoretinal fellowships in Newcastle Eye Centre in Newcastle Upon Tyne in 2017 and St Paul’s Eye unit in Liverpool in 2018. I worked as a consultant vitreoretinal surgeon in North Cumbria before joining St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in January 2021.


Qualifications:

  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) 2015
  • Certificate of completion of Ophthalmology training (CCT) 2017
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, Alexandria Medical School, Egypt 2003

Professional Membership:

  • General Medical Council: full registration with license to practice
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in London

Membership of Learned Societies:

  • Member of the British and Eire Association of Vitreoretinal Surgeons (BEAVRS)
  • Examiner for fellowship exams of The Royal College of Ophthalmologists in London
