Overview/Background:

John joined the Trust as a Consultant in 2011, having completed his higher urology training across Cheshire and Merseyside. John offers a broad general urology practice with specialist interest areas in stone disease and prostate disease. He has introduced innovative new prostate diagnostic and treatment technologies to the Trust and the wider NW region (Rezum steam ablation and local anaesthetic transperineal biopsy).

He has extensive experience in medical education, innovating and establishing training courses both regionally and nationally for urologists, as well previously acting as urology training programme director for the region. Currently John is the national quality assurance lead for urological training through the Joint Committee on Surgical Training.

John maintains an active research interest and has been principle investigator for a number of national urological studies recruiting at the Trust.

In 2020 John was appointed as the Divisional Medical Director for Surgery and Clinical Support Services in addition to his role the Lead Cancer Clinician for the Trust.
